What is ballroom dancing?

Ballroom dancing is a collection of elegant and energetic partner dances performed to a wide range of music styles. It’s all about smooth movement, posture, rhythm, and most of all — enjoying the dance together.

In our ballroom dance classes, you’ll be introduced to both Ballroom and Latin dances. The Ballroom style includes classic and elegant dances such as Waltz, Viennese Waltz, Tango, Slow Foxtrot and Quickstep. We also focus on the lively Latin dances, including Samba, Cha-cha, Rumba, Paso Doble and Jive, where expression, rhythm and dynamics take centre stage.

Music you will dance to

Music is an essential part of ballroom dancing. The right rhythm and tempo help you feel the steps more naturally and dance with greater ease and flow.

In our ballroom dance classes, we use a wide range of music styles that match the different dances. Our Spotify playlist gives you a good impression of the music we use during lessons. You can use it as inspiration or to practice at home, helping you become familiar with the rhythm so dancing becomes something you enjoy both inside and outside the studio.

FAQ Ballroom Dancing

What should I wear to class?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. No special dancewear is required — the most important thing is that you feel comfortable.

What shoes should I wear?

Shoes with a flexible sole work best. Regular shoes are fine to start with, as long as they are not too stiff or have very high or thin heels. Dance shoes are not required. During the course, we can advise you if and when dance shoes would be beneficial.

How long is a dance class?

A standard group class lasts 60 minutes, giving enough time to explain, practise and repeat movements effectively.

Do I need any dance experience?

No. Our ballroom dance classes are suitable for both beginners and more experienced dancers. We build up step by step so everyone can participate comfortably.
